A pack of five 4K screens were released by Sony, showing the opening tutorial areas. Parallax occlusion mapping is used liberally to add extra detail, reflecting Bluepoint’s work on Shadow of the Colossus where POM, screen-space reflections, light shafts, and swaying foliage were all present. The Demon’s Souls remake does much of this too, but goes the extra mile to completely rebuild the scene. It’s curious to see the updates to the knight’s armour as well.

Demon’s Souls Remake will be available on November 12, 2020 at 12 AM Eastern Standard Time (EST). The exact time of release depends on what region you are in, as well as if you plan to buy the digital or physical version of the game. Everywhere possible, Bluepoint’s adherence to the not-really-realistic realism of video games erases strange imagery and replaces it with a more conventionally video game-y look. Imagine a version of the Vanguard, mentioned above, that’s just a little more faithful to the original. Imagine if its three eyes were massive, lovingly rendered orbs of mottled glass.
FromSoftware even suffered a handful of botched projects and flops like Ninja Blade—something that seems inconceivable in 2025, considering the company’s winning streak. But Demon’s Souls drastically transformed FromSoftware’s reputation and design philosophy, introducing the world to Hidetaka Miyazaki as a game director. It’s small by Elden Ring standards, but worth experiencing firsthand nevertheless.

On the right side, there is a shortcut to the boss of the location, Flamelurker. On the left side, where the wagons are, there is the other part of the location with many items to pick up. This is a guide to the release date of Demon’s Souls Remake for the PlayStation 5. Learn when will the game be released and more about the Digital Deluxe edition of the game. Shadow of the Colossus had this problem too, in a different way.
Demon’s Souls players create a character and are immediately thrust into an unforgiving, bleak world where everything is out to kill them and death has severe, lasting consequences. All of this is taken to new heights of immersion through the DualSense controller. The haptic feedback adaptive triggers pair with the 3D audio in superb fashion. It’s one thing to watch as your character strikes down the undead and impales a skeleton, it’s another to completely hear and feel the difference. Every sword strike and spell blast feel instantly recognizable, while even the creaking of a chain-operated elevator or the pattering of rain add to the overall immersion. It really has to be felt to be understood but the DualSense finalizes this game as having the best gameplay of any “Souls” title.
It allows you to either summon other players to help you fight through the monsters and bosses you face, or invade the worlds of other players to add to their woes (and they can invade yours, too). Though you’ll need a PlayStation Plus subscription to access Demon’s Souls’ multiplayer, you will still be able to see the notes other players leave to either warn you of or trick you about incoming threats. Demon’s Souls takes place in the cursed land of Boletaria, where the king has made use of an ancient power called the Soul Arts, and in doing so, awakened a demon from the dawn of time called the Old One. As a result, the demon has blanketed Boletaria in a dense fog that unleashed all sorts of monsters. Those monsters want human souls, and they’ve hunted the people of Boletaria, ripping their souls free to feed on them–and leaving the soulless to fall to madness and attack any who’ve survived. But developer Bluepoint’s greatest achievement is that it took something I’m intimately familiar with and made me feel like I was venturing into the unknown.
That might be the case for any of Sony’s first-party games, but we have ample evidence that From Software’s RPGs are hugely popular. The first Dark Souls alone sold millions of copies on PC, and the series has only gotten bigger since. What makes Sony’s slip-up more perplexing is that, as recently as August 2020, the company expressed interest in more PC ports of its console exclusives. “We will explore expanding our 1st party titles to the PC platform in order to promote further growth in our profitability,” Sony’s 2020 corporate report states.
You can return to body form by using a Stone of Ephemeral Eyes, a consumable item, or by beating a Major Demon (aka a boss). While body form has its advantages, namely in the form of your normal HP levels and the ability to summon other friendly players to aid you in boss fights, it also leaves you susceptible to being invaded by other players. And repeatedly dying in body form has an effect on the world, a complicated mechanic called World Tendency that you shouldn’t worry too much about in the beginning. G28 to the heads-up display or HUD and the user-interface or UI is something that the Demon’s Souls community has been up in arms about since the remake’s release in late 2020. Some fans believe that the lack of item names and modernization of many of the design elements take away from the immersion of the game.
Blunt weapons such as a club or your first (bare handed or knuckles) works wonders against the Skeletons. Avoid using bladed weapons unless your character is over-leveled. With Colourless Demon Souls in hand, you can upgrade the unique weapons you find up to +5. These weapons all have various beneficial effects so they can be worth the time and effort. The first time you won’t kill them all, so try to kill as many as you can. As the story progresses, you will unlock area spells that will allow you to kill all the lizards at once.
